The number of single-person households in Germany is on the rise, with around one-fifth of the population living alone.

Data released by the Federal Statistical Office of Germany on the 16th showed that by 2024, approximately 17 million people in Germany will be living alone, roughly equivalent to one in every five individuals. Over the past 20 years, the number of single-person households in Germany has sharply increased, rising by about 22% since 2004 when there were 14 million people living alone, accounting for 17.1% of the total population. By the end of 2024, Germany's total population will be close to 83.6 million, with the percentage of people living alone at 20.6%.
