South Korean battery manufacturer SK On, a subsidiary of SK Group, announced on July 17 that it has signed a lithium hydroxide supply contract with South Korean metal refining company EcoPro Innovation. The company plans to purchase up to 6,000 tons of South Korean-produced lithium hydroxide by the end of this year, which can meet the battery production needs of approximately 100,000 electric vehicles. These materials will be processed at a cathode material factory in South Korea and then exported to SK On's battery manufacturing base in the United States. Both companies also plan to sign an additional long-term supply agreement covering the next two to three years within this year.
