A technology company in Sichuan Province failed to fulfill its obligation to protect network security, resulting in a data breach and being legally punished.

Recently, the Sichuan Internet Security Department discovered during their work that a ticket management system developed by a technology company in Chengdu did not implement the required network security protection measures, leading to the leakage of some data within the system, which was exploited by criminals for illegal activities. Upon investigation, it was found that the company, as the developer and operator of the system in question, had the legal responsibility to protect network security, but failed to fulfill the obligations stipulated by the Cybersecurity Law of the People's Republic of China. They did not implement a network security protection system or take necessary technical security measures, ultimately resulting in the data leak. The Sichuan Public Security Internet Security Department has issued administrative penalties to the company involved and the individuals directly responsible in accordance with the law.
