Shanghai Vice Mayor Chen Jie: Shanghai will further enhance cooperation with the RISC-V International Foundation to create a RISC-V industrial cluster.
On July 17, at the 5th RISC-V China Summit in 2025, Chen Jie, member of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal Committee and Deputy Mayor, stated that Shanghai is one of the earliest regions in China to support and promote RISC-V. Shanghai has always been an active embracer, participant, and contributor to RISC-V. As early as 2018, Shanghai initiated the establishment of the China RISC-V Industry Alliance, successfully held the first RISC-V China Summit in 2021, established the Shanghai Open Processor Industry Innovation Center in 2024, and initially formed a full-coverage industrial chain from chip design and manufacturing to applications, promoting the development of RISC-V in high-performance computing, AI computing power, smart terminals, and automotive electronics. Shanghai will further strengthen cooperation with the RISC-V International Foundation, create a better industrial ecology, especially improve the standard system, software infrastructure, carry out a series of IP product breakthroughs, explore the release of a unified hardware and software open platform for global companies, universities, and community developers, build a RISC-V industrial cluster area, and welcome top RISC-V companies, innovative teams, and talented individuals from around the world to take root in Shanghai, grow and thrive, and together create a new chapter for the future development of RISC-V.
