On July 14th to 15th, the Central Urban Work Conference was held in Beijing, clarifying the connotation of a modernized people's city as "innovative, livable, beautiful, resilient, civilized, and intelligent," and deploying 7 key tasks with a focus on optimizing the modern urban system. After a decade, "urban work" has once again been elevated to the central level for specialized research and deployment, with an important background being a major judgment on the historical position of urban development. The period of "stable development" and "improving quality and efficiency of existing assets" has put forward new requirements to find the focus and breakthroughs in urban work. In the great journey of promoting Chinese modernization, while playing an important role in national development and governance, cities must actively adapt to changes in the situation and transform urban development concepts, development methods, development drivers, work priorities, and work methods.
