Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao meets with Jiao Boren, CEO of Royal Philips, Netherlands.
On July 16th, Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao met with Jeroen Tas, CEO of Royal Philips, a global leader in health technology. The two sides exchanged views on cooperation between Philips and China, government procurement, and other topics. Wang Wentao stated that China is the world's second largest consumer market and second largest importer. President Xi Jinping has emphasized that China's door to openness will only open wider, and the policy of utilizing foreign investment remains unchanged. The Chinese government continues to improve the business environment, promote the construction of a unified national market, protect intellectual property rights in accordance with the law, and vigorously boost domestic consumption. It is hoped that Philips will continue to deepen its presence in the Chinese market, strengthen investment and innovation cooperation with China. Currently, unilateralism and protectionism are impacting the international economic and trade order. It is hoped that Philips will play an active role in the industry, continue to promote the support of free trade by the Netherlands and the European Union, uphold the multilateral trading system with the World Trade Organization at its core, and promote stable development of China-Netherlands and China-EU economic and trade relations.
