According to the Smart Financial News APP, on July 16th, Professor Sophia Chan, Secretary for Food and Health of the Hong Kong SAR Government, responded in writing to a question from legislator Shiu Ka-fai at the Legislative Council meeting, stating that the government has been supporting the development of the Chinese medicine industry through various policy measures, including talent training, testing and certification, intellectual property maintenance, brand establishment and market development. In addition, the government established the Government Chinese Medicine Testing Centre (Testing Centre) in 2017 to establish reference standards for Chinese medicine and products, and to transfer technology to the Chinese medicine industry to enhance quality control. Considering the economic efficiency and appropriateness of using public funds, the government promotes industry development through the above-mentioned policy measures and resources, rather than directly subsidizing individual business operations.
