Wang Yi meets with Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi

On July 16, 2025, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Iranian Foreign Minister Alaraghi in Tianjin. The two sides exchanged views on the Iranian nuclear issue. Alaraghi reiterated that Iran clearly does not develop nuclear weapons, while not giving up the legitimate right to peaceful use of nuclear energy, and is willing to engage in negotiations and consultations with all parties as soon as possible on the basis of equality and mutual respect, seeking a political solution to the Iranian nuclear issue. Wang Yi stated that China consistently opposes the use of force or threats of force, and advocates resolving differences through dialogue and negotiation. China attaches importance to Iran's commitment not to develop nuclear weapons, respects Iran's right to peaceful use of nuclear energy, appreciates Iran's efforts to seek peace through diplomatic means, supports Iran in maintaining dialogue with all parties, and is willing to continue playing a constructive role in promoting the resolution of the Iranian nuclear issue and stability in the Middle East.
