Meta faces a new round of technology antitrust battles in the European Union and has already been fined 200 million.

Meta Platforms Inc. may be on a collision course with the European Union once again, as a previous 200 million euro fine failed to bring Facebook and Instagram into compliance with the EU's strict new digital regulations. The European Commission stated that last week it sent a letter to the social media giant warning that Meta's paid or opt-in services - where users can pay for an ad-free experience - need further adjustments. If Meta fails to meet the demands of the EU Competition Commissioner Teresa Ribera and Digital Policy Commissioner Henna Virkkunen's team, this procedural step could lead to the EU issuing a formal warning and ultimately paving the way for periodic fines. In April, Meta was fined for the first time for violating the Digital Markets Act.
