OPEC maintains its forecast for global oil demand growth for this year and next year.
The latest monthly report released by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) on the 15th maintained its unchanged forecast for global oil demand growth in 2025 and 2026. In 2025, global oil demand is expected to increase by 1.29 million barrels per day, and by 2026, demand is expected to further increase by 1.28 million barrels per day.
OPEC's positive outlook on crude oil demand stems from its optimistic view of the global economy. OPEC stated in the report, "India, China, and Brazil have performed better than expected so far, while the United States and the Eurozone are experiencing a continued rebound from last year." "Therefore, economic growth in the second half of 2025 may be better than currently expected."
In the first half of 2025, crude oil prices fluctuated dramatically due to uncertainties in US trade policy and geopolitical tensions related to conflicts with Iran and Russia-Ukraine. Nevertheless, OPEC stated, "The physical market fundamentals remain strong, with global oil supply and demand in basic balance."
