Brazil establishes a cross-department committee to consider retaliatory measures against US tariffs.

Brazilian President Lula announced on the evening of the 14th the establishment of a cross-departmental committee responsible for economic and trade negotiations and responses, studying how to implement specific measures based on the Economic Reciprocity Act to respond to US tariffs and protect the Brazilian economy. According to an announcement on the Brazilian president's official website, the committee's primary task is to listen to the opinions of businesses and assess the impact of the US announcement of imposing a 50% tariff on Brazilian goods starting from August 1. The committee is chaired by Brazilian Vice President and Minister of Development, Industry and Trade Alkmin, with members including Chief of Staff Ruy Costa, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mauro Vieira, and Minister of Finance Fernando Ada. Other government ministers will be invited to attend based on the theme of different meetings.
