J.P. Morgan is setting up a department in its commercial and investment banking business focused on custom financing structures in the public and private markets. According to an internal memo released on Monday, this business, called "Strategic Financing Solutions," will involve collaboration between the bank, markets, and sales departments. The business will initially focus on structured private solutions, infrastructure financing, strategic asset-backed securities financing, and direct lending. Co-heads of Commercial and Investment Banking, Doug Petno and Troy Rohrbaugh, wrote in the memo that as financing needs become increasingly complex, investors are also looking to enter new markets. The team will focus on providing alternative solutions for corporate and sponsor clients.
