Tariff policy triggers a rush to transport goods. The throughput of the Port of Los Angeles in the United States reached a record high in June.
According to the app Zhtng Cijng, with the continuous changes in trade policies by US President Trump, the Port of Los Angeles experienced its busiest month in its 117-year history in June. According to the port management data, the port handled 892,340 standard containers (TEU) that month, significantly higher than the same period last year, an increase of approximately 8%. This surge in capacity is not solely due to economic growth, but is the result of what port officials call the "tariff whipsaw effect," with businesses rushing to ship goods into the country before the new tariffs take effect, especially holiday and consumer goods re-stocking items.
