The Indian civil aviation authority issued an instruction on the 14th requiring all airlines in the country to conduct emergency inspections of the fuel switches and locking systems of certain Boeing aircraft before the 21st. This directive stems from a preliminary investigation report on an Indian aviation accident released by the Indian Aviation Accident Investigation Bureau. The report pointed out that a month ago, in the crash involving an Indian passenger plane, the fuel switch of the aircraft in question switched from "run" to "cut off" position before the crash, causing the interruption of engine fuel supply. The report also revealed that the US Federal Aviation Administration had issued a notice in 2018 advising operators of Boeing 787 and other models to inspect the locking function of fuel switches to ensure that the switches would not accidentally change position.
