The Baltic Dry Index for dry bulk shipping in the Baltic Sea hit a new high in nearly a month.
According to foreign media reports, on Monday the Baltic Dry Index rose to a four-week high, with all types of vessels seeing an increase in freight rates. The Baltic Dry Index rose by 120 points, or 7.2%, to 1783 points, the highest since June 18. The Capesize Index rose by 263 points, or 12.5%, to 2367 points. Capesize vessels saw a daily profit increase of $2180 to $19633. The Panamax Index rose by 89 points, or 4.8%, to 1949 points, the highest since June 18 last year. Panamax vessels saw a daily profit increase of $801 to $17544. The Supramax Index rose by 25 points, or 2.1%, to 1244 points.
