Goldman Sachs: Tariffs may push up prices of goods whose supply chains extend overseas.
Goldman Sachs economists wrote in a report that tariffs may push up prices for goods with supply chains extending overseas, such as household items, entertainment, and communication products. Airfare prices may also have rebounded last month. However, Goldman Sachs predicts that with used car prices expected to decrease and new car prices remaining stable, the overall core inflation in June may be around 0.23% month-on-month. The Goldman Sachs team wrote that tariffs may have a more severe impact in the future: "We expect the monthly inflation rate of the core Consumer Price Index to be between 0.3% and 0.4% in the coming months."
