The International Atomic Energy Agency issued a statement on the 13th, saying that there was an "unusual" large amount of gunfire near the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant on the evening of the 12th, which could pose a threat to nuclear safety and security. IAEA Director General Grossi said in the statement that the IAEA work team stationed at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant reported that small arms fire started at around 10 p.m. local time on the 12th and lasted for about an hour. Grossi stated that conducting such military activities at or near a large nuclear power plant is "clearly unacceptable." The statement said the work team conducted a patrol of the site in the early morning of the 13th and saw many small caliber bullet casings scattered on the ground near Units 5 and 6 reactors. The work team did not find signs of broken windows or other physical damage, and is currently gathering more information about the incident.
