According to Electrek, Tesla has introduced a new software update for its vehicles, which includes the highly anticipated Grok integration, but it currently cannot even interact with the vehicles. Earlier this week, Tesla CEO Musk announced that Tesla will integrate his xAI-developed large language model Grok into its vehicles. Tesla has now started pushing this update to vehicles, but there is an important limitation. Tesla wrote in the release notes (version 2025.26): "Grok (Beta) (US AMD vehicles) - Grok is now directly available in your Tesla vehicle; Requires premium connectivity or WiFi connection; Grok is currently in testing phase and will not send commands to the vehicle - existing voice commands remain unchanged." Firstly, it is only available on US vehicles equipped with AMD infotainment computers, which means it is only limited to cars produced after the mid-2021. But more importantly, Tesla stated that in the current version, it will not send commands to the vehicles. Therefore, it is like installing Grok on a phone, except it is installed on the car's onboard computer.
