Amazon announced on Thursday local time that the company has cut jobs in the book department, including the Goodreads review website and the Kindle department. The Seattle-based retailer said that fewer than 100 employees are affected, and this move is aimed at increasing efficiency and simplifying operations. A spokesperson for Amazon said in a statement, "As part of our ongoing effort to improve team and project efficiency and to better align with our business roadmap, we have made the difficult decision to eliminate a small number of positions within the book organization."
