International Telecommunication Union: With the rise of artificial intelligence, the indirect emission of technology giants has increased by 150% in three years.

On June 5th local time, the International Telecommunication Union released the report "2025 Green Digital Enterprises". The report stated that due to the high energy consumption of data center power supply, the indirect carbon emissions generated by the operations of four leading technology companies in the field of artificial intelligence - Amazon, Microsoft, Alphabet, and Meta - on average increased by 150% between 2020 and 2023. Indirect emissions include emissions generated by the company's consumption of purchased electricity, steam, heating, and cooling. The report shows that compared to three years ago, Amazon's operational carbon emissions increased the most in 2023, reaching 182%, followed by Microsoft at 155%, Meta at 145%, and Alphabet at 138%.
