Spanish Defense Minister: Currently not considering increasing defense spending to 5% of GDP.

On June 5th local time, Spanish Defense Minister Robles defended the defense budget, which accounts for 2% of the country's GDP. Robles stated that this defense spending percentage is sufficient to meet NATO's requirements for member countries. Robles also mentioned that Spain will not consider increasing defense spending to 5% of GDP temporarily, and promised that Spain will fulfill its commitment to increase defense spending to 2% of GDP within the year.
