On June 5, 2025, the merger between Changan and Dongfeng has been temporarily suspended, and a new state-owned automotive enterprise will be established, with a high probability that its headquarters will be located in Chongqing. According to the announcement, the new state-owned automotive enterprise should be a first-tier state-owned enterprise, with Changan remaining as its subsidiary. Currently, Changan's headquarters is in Chongqing, and there is a high probability that it will also become the headquarters of the new state-owned automotive enterprise. First-tier state-owned enterprises have higher strategic autonomy and more direct resource allocation capabilities, which will inevitably bring significant benefits to Chongqing.
