The first hydrogen turbofan-powered flight verification completed, filling the gap in domestic hydrogen aviation power technology.
Recently, the hydrogen team of China Aero-Engine Research Institute independently developed a kilonewton-level hydrogen fuel turbojet engine. It successfully completed the first domestic hydrogen fuel aviation turbo power flight verification at Xianghuang Banner New Baolarge Airport in Inner Mongolia, using the flight test platform GF-2000 of Xiamen University. The 70MPa hydrogen storage/control/refueling system was provided with technical support by Zhuzhou National Innovation Center. The flight test was conducted in two stages, with a maximum flight altitude of 3000 meters. Various subjects were successfully carried out, including hydrogen turbojet ignition in mid-air at different altitudes, hydrogen turbojet active power cruising flight, and hydrogen turbojet mid-air acceleration and deceleration tests. The flight test fully verified the working stability and reliability of domestically developed hydrogen turbojet engines in flight conditions, marking a significant advancement in China's research on hydrogen fuel aviation turbojet engine technology and effectively filling the domestic technology gap in hydrogen aviation power.
