Southern Power Grid: Targeted Technological Breakthroughs to Create a "New Mode" of Power Supply for Islands

Qian Zhaoyang, General Manager of China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd., stated that targeted technological breakthroughs are being made to create a "new mode" of power supply for islands. Islands are also at the edge, so for remote islands in the sea, we use a multi-energy complementary microgrid networking technology to ensure reliable power supply to the islands, while also turning the islands into zero-carbon pioneers. For some islands near the coast, we use submarine cable networking technology to integrate them into the main power grid to receive equal services. For example, in Hainan, integration has been achieved between 29 nearshore islands and the main power grid; in Guangxi, microgrid construction has been completed for 6 remote islands, and they are currently operating very well.
