SK Hynix surpassed Samsung for the first time in the first quarter, becoming the world's largest DRAM producer.
SK Hynix's market share in the global DRAM market for the first quarter of this year exceeded Samsung Electronics for the first time. According to data from market research firm Omdia, global DRAM sales totaled $26.33 billion in the first quarter, a 9% decrease from the previous quarter due to falling contract prices and declining HBM shipments. Despite the overall market decline, SK Hynix's market share increased from 36% in the fourth quarter of last year to 36.9% in the first quarter of this year, surpassing Samsung Electronics, whose market share fell from 38.6% to 34.4%.
