Industry experts: Preventing overwork cannot rely solely on self-awareness, the government may strengthen the punishment for illegal and irregular behavior of enterprises.
Dong Yang, former executive vice president and secretary general of the Automobile Industry Association and chairman of the China Power Battery Industry Alliance, bluntly stated that "opposing internal competition cannot rely solely on self-awareness," and indicated that the government may strengthen penalties for illegal behavior by businesses. He pointed out that the organic combination of government and effective markets is an important principle of the socialist market economy and an important means of comprehensive governance of "internal competition" in the industry. He expects that the government may take the following administrative measures in the next step: first, strengthen penalties for businesses in the industry that violate laws and regulations; second, further implement various measures proposed by multiple departments for comprehensive governance of "internal competition," such as focusing on checking problems related to companies delaying payment to component suppliers and enforcing government requirements to shorten payment periods; and third, support and guide the Automobile Industry Association in hiring third-party professional organizations to implement industry self-regulation.
