FINA: May Expel Athletes Participating in "Enhanced Performance Games"

The International Swimming Federation held a meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland on the 3rd and decided to introduce a new regulation. After the regulation is implemented, individuals participating in "enhanced sports events" may be expelled from all activities of the International Swimming Federation. In a statement, the International Swimming Federation said: "This new regulation requires that no one within the International Swimming Federation may support, endorse, or participate in any sports activities involving high-tech methods, banned substances, or violations. Those who engage in such behaviors will be denied participation in any International Swimming Federation competitions, activities, and other projects." The International Swimming Federation stated that individuals engaging in "similar behaviors" include athletes, coaches, team officials, management personnel, medical support personnel, or government representatives.
