Mexico will apply for an exemption from steel and aluminum tariffs imposed by the United States, affecting key industries such as cars.
The Smart Finance App learned that Marcelo Ebrard, the Mexican Minister of Economy, stated on Tuesday that Mexico will request the Trump administration to exempt the steel tariffs raised to 50%. Ebrard will travel to Washington on Friday to meet with U.S. officials. He said that if the tariff measures continue to be implemented, Mexico will develop a "backup plan." Ebrard said, "This is not fair, and it is difficult to sustain. We will submit relevant evidence on Friday to have Mexico excluded from this measure."
