Broadcom launches Super Chip Tomahawk 6 capable of powering 100,000 GPUs
Broadcom is taking bold steps to try to get a bigger slice of the hot AI infrastructure market. Last weekend, the chip giant began mass production of its strongest data center switch chip to date - Tomahawk6. Early customers, including top cloud service providers and network equipment companies, have started deploying this chip to build the world's largest GPU cluster. Although specific customer names were not disclosed, Villager hinted at over 100,000 GPU deployment cases. Considering that typically one switch is needed for every 10 GPUs, the market potential is clear.
