The United Nations voted to designate July 11 as "World Horse Day".

On June 3rd local time, the United Nations General Assembly voted with 169 in favor to designate July 11th as "World Horse Day" in order to raise public awareness of the importance of horses and the horse industry in the economic and social aspects, and to encourage concrete actions to support the horse industry and protect the cultural heritage of horses.
