The Japanese yen rose more than 0.9% approaching 142, while the Australian dollar and New Zealand dollar rose more than 1%.

At the close of trading in New York on Monday, the US dollar fell 0.93% against the Japanese yen to 142.68 yen, with an intraday trading range of 144.17-142.54 yen. The euro fell 0.12% against the yen, and the pound fell 0.31% against the yen. The euro rose 0.85% against the US dollar, and the pound rose 0.65% against the US dollar, while the US dollar fell 0.65% against the Swiss franc. Among commodity currencies, the Australian dollar rose 1.04% against the US dollar, the New Zealand dollar rose 1.27% against the US dollar, and the US dollar fell 0.20% against the Canadian dollar.
