BYD announced its sales volume in May, and Citibank expects that a price decrease will increase customer traffic by more than thirty percent.
Several new energy vehicle companies announced their sales data for May, with leading company BYD Co. selling nearly 382,500 vehicles in May, an annual increase of over 15%. Among them, the sales of pure electric passenger vehicles reached 204,400 vehicles, increasing by 39.6% year-on-year; while sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles reached 172,600 vehicles, a decrease of 6.26%. Citigroup estimates that after BYD significantly reduced prices, foot traffic in their stores may increase by 30% to 40%. It is worth mentioning that in April of this year, BYD sold 7,231 pure electric vehicles in Europe, an increase of 169% compared to the same period last year, while Tesla's sales of electric vehicles in Europe during the same period were 7,165 vehicles, a decrease of 49%. BYD surpassed Tesla, moving up one spot in the ranking.
