The death toll in the Indonesian quarry landslide accident has risen to 19 people.
A landslide occurred at a quarry in West Java Province, Indonesia on May 30, and the death toll had risen to 19 people as of June 1. Hardy Rahmat Hachazsamita, a spokesperson for the West Java Provincial Disaster Management and Reduction Agency, said that the area entered a state of emergency from May 30 to June 6 to ensure smooth search and rescue as well as post-disaster operations. Currently, 6 people are still missing. Fathmono, head of the search and rescue department in West Java Province, stated that due to a new landslide in the mining area on June 1 noon, the search and rescue operation had to be temporarily suspended and will resume on the 2nd.
