The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas issued a statement on June 1 local time condemning the Israeli military's attack on the aid distribution point in Gaza as a "brutal massacre". The statement said that the attack has resulted in at least 35 deaths and 150 injuries. The Gaza Strip media office stated that the Israeli army attacked the area surrounding the aid distribution point in the southern Ma'awsi area of Gaza early on the 1st, causing a large number of casualties. The distribution point is located in the so-called "buffer zone" delineated by Israel, operated by a US-Israeli joint venture company and secured by the Israeli military. After the attack, the Israeli Defense Forces stated that they do not yet have information about the casualties in the incident, and that the investigation is still ongoing.
