Small-language tour guides are in high demand, scheduling until November.
Since the beginning of this year, the inbound tourism market in China has been continuously heating up. There is a growing demand for foreign language tour guides, especially for those who speak less common languages, and the supply falls short of demand. Hu Fangfang, a French tour guide in Huangshan, Anhui Province, said that she has been working non-stop since April this year and her schedule is already fully booked until mid-November, with a daily wage of up to 1000 yuan. Data from the National Immigration Administration shows that in the first quarter, the number of inbound foreign tourists in China reached nearly 7.7 million, an increase of almost 40% compared to the same period last year, with nearly 70% of them entering China visa-free. Industry insiders believe that with the optimization of visa-free policies, the market demand for tour guides speaking less common languages will continue to grow in the future.
