Hou Jianguo, President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Executive Chairman of the Presidium of the Academic Divisions, pointed out on May 31 that the current global challenges of climate change, environmental pollution, resource scarcity, and food security are intertwined and overlapping. The opportunities and challenges of the new technological revolution are profoundly affecting the global sustainable development landscape. 2025 marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Academic Divisions of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The international seminar "Sustainable Development and Open Collaboration: Responsibilities of the Scientific Community" organized by the Academic Divisions of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was held in Beijing on the same day, during which Hou Jianguo made the above statement in his keynote speech.
