On May 30, the Japan Imperial Database released a survey report on the price revision trends of 195 major food companies. The report shows that there will be 1932 food items scheduled to increase in price in June, about three times the number of the same period last year. Among them, boxed rice saw the largest price increase due to the rise in rice prices. The report also shows that including planned price increases, a total of 16,224 food items have seen price increases by 2025, and it is expected that the cumulative price increase will exceed 20,000 items for the first time since 2023.
