On May 29, 2025, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with the Foreign Minister of the Federated States of Micronesia, Robert, who was attending the Third China-Pacific Island Countries Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Xiamen. Wang Yi expressed that with the joint efforts of the Micronesian side and all parties, the Third China-Pacific Island Countries Foreign Ministers' Meeting was a complete success. The meeting issued a joint statement injecting new momentum into the development of China's relations with island countries. Wang Yi pointed out that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Micronesia, bilateral cooperation has continuously progressed, bringing tangible benefits to the people of Micronesia. In April of last year, President Xi Jinping and President Christian reached important consensus on strengthening mutual trust and friendship and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation. China appreciates the resolution passed by the Micronesian Congress in support of the One China principle, and believes that the Micronesian side will continue to firmly support China's just position on Taiwan-related issues. China is willing to work together with Micronesia to accelerate the construction of the "Belt and Road Initiative". The Micronesian National Conference Center project aided by China was smoothly handed over, and the display of "China Orchid" during the handover ceremony was a highlight, becoming a good story in the relationship between the two countries. China is willing to further expand cooperation in key areas such as infrastructure, climate change response, and marine exploration with Micronesia, deepen exchanges in education, youth, and local fields, and promote the continuous development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Micronesia. Robert congratulated the successful Third China-Pacific Island Countries Foreign Ministers' Meeting, and expressed that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Federated States of Micronesia and China, the two countries have respected each other, treated each other as equals, and carried out productive pragmatic cooperation. China's support is crucial for the development of Micronesia. The National Conference Center project is a symbol of progress in bilateral relations. The Micronesian government firmly adheres to the One China principle, recognizing Taiwan as a part of China. China is not only a cooperative partner but also a world leader, leading Southern countries in achieving sustainable development and establishing a just world.
