On the afternoon of May 27th, local time, the first ASEAN-China-Gulf Cooperation Council Summit was held in Kuala Lumpur. On that day, the ASEAN-China-Gulf Cooperation Council Summit issued a joint statement stating that the three parties unanimously agreed that "there are deep historical and cultural connections as well as economic ties between ASEAN, China, and the Gulf Cooperation Council; we are eager to further promote ASEAN-China-Gulf Cooperation Council relations under the guidance of basic principles and common values, norms, and commitments, including the United Nations Charter."
