Container ships from Shanghai to the United States are once again experiencing a "shortage of cabins" and a "crowded cabins" situation, with orders already scheduled until June. Faced with a wave of purchases from American companies, Shanghai's ports, freight forwarders, and foreign trade enterprises appear calm and composed, confident in the competitiveness of Chinese manufacturing in the global supply chain, allowing Shanghai companies to focus on doing their own business well. In response to the surge in demand, Shanghai Port is operating efficiently. Yang Yanbin, Deputy General Manager of the Production Business Department of Shanghai Port Group, introduced that from May 19 to 25, the export container volume of the Shanghai Port to the United States reached 59,000 TEUs, an increase of 49.4% compared to the previous week. Currently, all the liners on the U.S. route have resumed, and the number of liners on the U.S. route at Shanghai Port has returned to the normal level of 42 liners per week. Freight forwarding companies are also not anxious. Lei Lei, a specialist in the routing of goods to the U.S. and Canada, predicts that by early June, the transport capacity from Asia to the United States will be fully restored to 100%, and may even be higher than normal levels. Although there has been a significant increase in freight rates in June, considering the gradual return of capacity on the U.S. route and the introduction of extra ships, the actual increase may not be fully enforced.
