Guizhou Dafang Mountain landslide rescue scene: Heavy equipment has entered to fully search and rescue trapped individuals.
On May 22, a landslide occurred in Qingyang Village, Guawa Township, Dafang County, Guizhou Province, trapping 19 people from 8 households. By 21:00 on the same day, two of the trapped individuals had been rescued after intense rescue efforts, but unfortunately showed no signs of life. On the morning of May 24, the emergency rescue operation for the landslide in Guawa Township, Dafang County, Guizhou Province entered its second phase. With the rain stopping, the geological stability of the landslide has improved. Currently, 7 heavy rescue equipment have been mobilized to create access routes into the landslide, with a focus on mechanical search and rescue. Three key search areas have been designated. Following the tactics of "precision positioning, targeted excavation, priority to the edges, and scientific search and rescue," the search and rescue operation is conducted in layers from high to low. According to drone surveys, the landslide is 1040 meters long, 300 meters wide, with an average thickness of 10 meters, and a volume of about 2.4 million cubic meters. Local authorities have evacuated 295 households and 735 people to safer areas.
