The death toll from the floods in Australia has risen to 4, with tens of thousands of people trapped.
On Friday, the body of a man was found in a car trapped in floodwaters in southeastern Australia, bringing the death toll to 4. Three days of continuous rainfall had cut off the entire town's transportation, washed away livestock, and destroyed homes. Police said the man was found near Coffs Harbour, 550 kilometers north of Sydney. Search efforts for a missing person since the start of the floods earlier this week are still ongoing. Emergency services say about 50,000 people are still isolated, and they hope to increase supplies of essential goods once the weather conditions improve. On Friday, over 100 schools remained closed and thousands of homes were without power. Authorities said the rivers will remain at dangerous levels for the next few days.
