"China's Blue Bay Remediation Action" was recognized as a 2026 UN "World Restoration Flagship."
On October 29, at the "Restoration Day" event of the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity held in Yerevan, Armenia, the United Nations Environment Programme officially announced that, due to China's outstanding achievements in marine ecological protection and restoration, the "China Blue Bay Remediation Action," organized and implemented under the leadership of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ministry of Finance, has been recognized as a 2026 UN "World Restoration Flagship." This is the second national ecological protection and restoration initiative to be recognized as a flagship project, following the "China Shan-Shui Project," which was recognized in 2022 as one of the first global flagship projects. China has become the first country to have two national initiatives recognized as flagship projects.
