According to the results announced by Bulgaria's Central Election Commission on the 27th, incumbent President Yotova and former caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gurov placed first and second in the presidential election vote, but neither received more than half of the votes, and the two will face off in a second round of voting on November 1. The commission said that Bulgaria has approximately 6.59 million eligible voters, of whom about 1.52 million participated in the presidential election vote on the 25th. Among the 27 candidates, Yotova received nearly 530,000 votes and Gurov received nearly 490,000 votes. Because the number of voters was less than half of eligible voters and no candidate received more than half of the votes, the presidential election will proceed to a second round of voting.
