United Nations experts believe that Meta Platforms (META.O) appears to have imposed "disproportionate restrictions" on accounts belonging to one camp in Brazil's presidential election, a situation consistent with earlier complaints from incumbent President Lula's camp. Lula's camp accused Meta of repeatedly and systematically reducing the user reach of its posts, and said that Meta AI refused to generate images related to Lula while being able to generate campaign material favorable to the son of right-wing rival and former Brazilian President Bolsonaro. Previously, a judge on Brazil's electoral court had ordered Meta not to interfere in the dissemination of political and election content. Meta responded that it treats content related to both candidates equally and that there is no discrimination.
