The United States imposed a new round of sanctions on Iran.
On October 21 local time, the U.S. Department of the Treasury website showed that the United States imposed a new round of sanctions on Iran. The U.S. Department of the Treasury issued a statement saying that as part of its "economic isolation campaign," it imposed sanctions on law firms headquartered in Panama and Greece. The statement said that the law firm has for years supported Iran's illicit shipping activities, indirectly helping Tehran obtain revenue and "funding Iran's military, weapons, and nuclear programs." The statement noted that the U.S. Department of the Treasury also sanctioned shipping agencies headquartered in Singapore and the United Arab Emirates that day, saying they directly assisted the operation of Iran's "shadow fleet." The statement said that the day's action also targeted a group of cargo vessels that generate revenue for Iran.
