US Secretary of State Rubio arrived in Samarkand on Sunday evening, where he was received by Saida Mirziyoyeva, the daughter of the President of Uzbekistan and Head of the Presidential Administration. Rubio subsequently met with business leaders and officials from Central Asia and Azerbaijan in the so-called "Central Asia +1" format. A spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State claimed that during the visit, the United States announced a package of agreements covering 54 trade, investment, and technology cooperation items, which, once implemented, could be worth up to $12 billion in total.
