On the afternoon of October 19 local time, the United Nations Security Council unanimously adopted a resolution on children and armed conflict with 15 votes in favor, calling for addressing the risks of violations against children committed, facilitated or exacerbated through the use of digital technologies. The resolution, drafted by Greece, urges Member States to strengthen the domestic implementation of their obligations under international law to end and prevent violations against children, including those committed, facilitated or exacerbated through digital technologies. The resolution also emphasizes the need to enhance children's digital literacy to help them identify potential risks and prevent violations from occurring. The six grave violations against children in armed conflict identified by the Security Council include: recruitment and use of children, killing and maiming of children, rape and other forms of sexual violence, attacks on schools and hospitals, abduction of children, and denial of humanitarian access to children.
