Beijing's "15th Five-Year Plan" Transportation Plan Released: Over 1,050 Kilometers of Rail by 2030, 45-Minute Commute Share to Reach 60%
Recently, the Beijing Municipal Government released the "Beijing 15th Five-Year Plan Period Modern Comprehensive Transportation System Development Plan," which specifies that during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, Beijing will focus on four major paths: integrated convergence, safety enhancement, digital and intelligent upgrading, and green transformation. Externally, it will build an accessible comprehensive three-dimensional transportation network; internally, it will improve an urban comprehensive transportation system with slow traffic as the main body, rail transit as the backbone, surface public transit as the guarantee, and passenger car traffic as the supplement, striving to build the capital's lifeline of "people enjoying their journeys, goods flowing smoothly, and safe accessibility." The Plan sets multiple quantitative targets: by 2030, Beijing's rail transit operating mileage will reach more than 1,050 kilometers, the green travel share in the central urban area will reach 78%, the share of commuting trips within 45 minutes will reach 60%, and the proportion of rail stations with bus connections within 50 meters will exceed 95%.
