French bond market remains under pressure; economist: if risks spread, it will trigger market panic.
Recently, long-term government bond yields in many major economies have risen sharply, and the European bond market has continued to come under pressure, with the situation in France particularly prominent. Since the beginning of October, the yield on French 10-year government bonds once approached 5%, hitting a new high since 2002. Vronique Riches-Flores, a French economist and former chief economist of the corporate and investment banking division of Socit Gnrale, said in an interview with a CMG reporter that as Europe's second-largest economy, France's current debt risk deserves more attention than Greece, the trigger that once set off the European debt crisis. Riches-Flores warned that France's debt risk has strong spillover effects, and if it is not brought under control in a timely manner, major risks may emerge in the future, market panic could spread rapidly, and it may even raise investors' doubts about the long-term stability of the euro area.
